As you step out of college and into adult life, several things will become apparent. To start, your track pants you purchased in freshman year are no longer appropriate to wear outside of the house. Second, you will take more pride in your possessions and their functions in your life.
We wanted to put together this list to highlight some items we believe every man should own.
8. Good Backpack /Duffel bag / Laptop Bag
The JanSport you wore throughout college just won’t cut it anymore. Look to grab a couple quality bags; they’ll pay themselves off with their durability and style.
7. A Steam Machine
Ironing is a pain in the ass, plain and simple. A steam machine takes the hassle out of ironing. They are extremely easy to use and are great for quickly getting wrinkles out of your clothes before heading out. Here is the link to the one I own.
6. A Foam Roller
Who doesn’t like a good massage? A foam roller will give you just that, over and over again, without the expense of going to a masseuse. They are great for loosening up your legs/back while watching television or before hitting the gym. I recommend using it for 3-5 minutes a day to start.
5. Music Subscription
Whether it’s Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal (who actually uses Tidal?) having a music subscription is a solid investment for any man. Having thousands of albums at your fingertips, and curated playlists and new releases to discover will have you finding new jams to share with your friends.
4. A Good Pair of Sunglasses
There comes a time in every guy’s life where they have to throw out their sunglasses (which most likely say bud light on the side), either because they’ve realized they don’t work very well or because they’ve sat on them. Regardless, a good pair of sunglasses will have you questioning what you were doing before with cheap pairs. And, we’re not saying you should go spend hundreds on a pair, but find something that’s effective but not a ton to replace if you lose/break them. We personally live and die by Dicks Cottons – a great company with very affordable handmade sunglasses.
3. A Solid Pair of Boots
Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to putting together a great wardrobe. Getting a good pair of boots will do just that. Boots are great in casual settings with jeans or with more formal attire for work.
2. A Notebook
Whether you’re obsessed with to-do lists or want to capture moments of creativity, having a notebook within reach is very useful. We also recommend creating a travel journal for any of the jet setters reading this.
1. A Pair of Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Cut out the background noise and get into what you’re listening to. Noise canceling headphones are great for the subway ride into work, plane rides or for crushing work at the office. We can’t recommend enough. If you’re looking for a great pair, we recommend the BackBeat PRO wireless noise-cancelling headphones.
